98% right across 89 college STEM problems
We gave the same problems to 9 popular study apps and AI assistants and graded every answer against the key. MyStudySidekick scored the highest of the 9 apps we tested.
MyStudySidekick, by subject
Other apps claim accuracy. We publish the test.
How we tested
- The problems: 89 college problems — 25 chemistry, 14 statics, 11 dynamics, 19 fluid mechanics, 20 thermodynamics — textbook end-of-chapter problems plus modified and original ones, many with diagrams.
- The apps: the most popular study apps a Google search turns up for STEM students, plus the big AI assistants. Nine in all.
- The input: every app got the same problem, as a photo or as pasted text with its figure, the way a student would send it.
- The grading: each answer checked against the answer key within a stated tolerance, with partial credit for multi-part problems. Every answer and grade is published.
- When: October 2026, and we keep adding problems and subjects. Some problems were used while we improved the app, so we keep testing on new problems.
Solved by real tools, not guesses
AI reads your problem. The equations, unit conversions and arithmetic run through STEM solvers we built and tested.
Values from textbook tables
Steam tables, thermochemical data and chemistry appendices are built in, so constants are looked up, not remembered.
Shows its check — and says when to double-check
Each answer shows how it was checked. If the app isn’t sure, it tells you which part of the setup to confirm.

Frequently asked
How accurate is it?
On our public benchmark of 89 college problems in chemistry, statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics, it scored 98%, the highest of the 9 apps we tested. Every answer from every app is published at mystudysidekick.com/benchmarks. The equations and numbers run through STEM tools we built and tested, constants come from textbook tables, and when the app isn’t sure it tells you which part of the setup to confirm. For anything graded, still compare against your textbook.
What subjects does it cover?
The checked problem solving is strongest in chemistry, physics, calculus, thermodynamics, statics and heat transfer, and keeps growing. Flashcards, quizzes, summaries, the tutor and the essay co-pilot work for any subject you upload material for.
Is it useful if I’m not a STEM major?
Yes. Students in history, nursing, business, psychology, law, languages and more use it for summaries of readings, flashcards for memorisation, practice tests and essay writing.
Can I try it for free?
You can create an account and set up your courses from your syllabus for free. The AI study tools are part of a subscription, which you can start with a free trial.
Is using it cheating?
It’s built to help you learn: every answer shows its steps and its check, and Solve-along coaches you through problems one step at a time instead of handing over an answer. Follow your instructor’s rules on AI use for graded work.
Which devices does it work on?
iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web, in more than 40 languages. Your courses and progress sync across all of them.
